Rink Rat Team Parent

Rink Rat Team Parent

Team Parent for Rink Rat’s

Thank you for taking on the role of Team Parent for Rink Rats. The Wayha Head Team Parent will be your resource for the season.

The purpose of the team parent is to serve as a contact person for the team, parents, coaches and the Wayha organization for the duration of their season.

Our Rink Rat program is considered a learn to skate for our youngest skaters with practices typically twice a week from early October to early February usually Monday, Wednesday 530-615.

1.     Your contact information will be listed as the Team parent on the Team page. This includes your email and phone for the team to contact you with questions. (Coaches information is also located here).

2.     Access to the Crossbar app will allow for you to add practice day assignments or additional events. (The season practice schedule will be added by our ice scheduler).

3.     Team Parent will also have access to the www.wayha.com team page to send emails to your families.

4.     Distributing and collecting the 5 calendars per family Raffle Calendars. These are handed out early November and due back mid-December. Help communicate and distribute if players need more tickets or if families are having trouble selling. This is our one mandatory fundraiser with all stubs collected.

5.     Assigning weekly locker room cleaning for locker rooms 1-4 alphabetically through the online roster. Two families can split this task (one for Locker Room 1-2 and one for Locker Room 3-4). These will be assigned on the crossbar app. Easiest to assign per month and relay to the team. (Taking out garbage, sweeping and mopping). Use discretion if there’s a better assignment method for your team.

6.     Each family is to work 8 total Volunteer hours. This can include Open Skate, High School game slots or general volunteer hours for the Season. This is located on the Volunteer Page. If they are unable or unwilling there’s a $50 hourly fee for missed slots.

7.     Rink Rat Scrimmage (7 minutes) during Varsity Comet Hockey Game. Date TBD. Be ready by 6:40pm.

8.     Optional Stevens Point Ice Hawks Mini-Mite Tournament: (typically in March) (Watch their website for date announcement- Typically late in the season). Players will need to register as a team and have a Coach available in order to participate .

9.     Organizing an end of the season family skate, ice cream party/potluck and awards to close out the season. This also includes a contribution from the families to purchase the Coaches a small appreciation gift to be presented at that time. Work with Wayha’s Head Team Parent for ordering Medals for each skater.

Every year, Wayha is very fortunate for our parents who step up and take on the role of Team Parents. We can't thank you enough for connecting our Parents, Coaches, Skaters and Wayha organization.
